Business Improvement Districts
Birmingham has three active Business Improvement Districts in the city centre which are linked closely to Birmingham City Centre Partnership.
Broad Street BID came into effect in 2005 and set a benchmark with its "Cleaner Greener Brighter" campaign to change the face of Broad Street and surrounding areas. Through BID2 it gained a successful "Yes" vote for a second 5 year term focussing on "Enhancing Connecting and Developing".
Retail BID went live in 2007 and has a focus on promoting and improving the retail offer of the city core through a range of measures including the highly successful Style Birmingham campaign.
Colmore Business District established in April 2009, represents the only commercial Business Improvement District in the UK. In its first six months of operation it has launched z-maps, a food and drink guide, branded taxi cabs, supported the Jazz festival, provided floral displays through the commercial area, organised a private viewing in association with the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and launched an array of dazzling Christmas lights and traditional festive wreaths throughout the business district.
